GST calculator: add or remove GST in seconds
Type the amount and the GST rate. Get the taxable value, the GST and the total, with CGST and SGST (or IGST) shown separately.
How it works.
Add GST: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100, total = amount + GST. Remove GST: taxable value = amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate), GST = amount − taxable value.
For a sale inside the state the GST is split equally into CGST and SGST; for a sale to another state the whole GST is IGST. The rate that applies depends on the item, so check the current notified rate for your goods.
Common questions.
How do I take GST out of a price?
Choose “Amount includes GST”. The calculator divides the amount by (100 + rate) and multiplies by 100 to get the taxable value.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For a sale within one state, the GST is shared equally between the central (CGST) and the state (SGST). For a sale to another state it is charged as IGST.
Is this a tax advice tool?
No. It does the arithmetic. Always confirm the rate and the rules for your goods with your accountant.
